When drilling down from one template to another it can sometimes be useful to tag the different columns that the user can drill from. The tag can then be used in the procedure populating the drill template, in order to make a dynamic procedure where the tag states for example from where the data should be fetched.

DRILLTAGn in column A is a parameter that can be used if the template contains drill downs and you, as a designer, want to tag the columns for which drill down is possible. The DRILLTAGn parameter in column A can be defined x number of times in column A (e.g. DRILLTAG1, DRILLTAG2, DRILLTAG3, and so on).

The tag in the column from which the user drills will be sent into the PANE worksheet in the drill template (as well as into #PANE). From that location, it is then up to the designer how to use the tag. For example, it can be used in the procedure populating the drill template with data if the designer wants to create a dynamic procedure in which the actual tag sent in decides where data should be fetched.

The following must be defined in the DRILLTAGn row:

  • In column B (ROWTYPE) - defined as DESIGN.
  • Add tags to any columns in the template with drilldowns. It is up to designer to decide the tag names.

When the user drills down from one of the columns tagged with DRILLTAGs, then the particular tags for that column are sent into the PANE worksheet. In the following example, the user drilled down from column K, in which the tags VISMA_ACTUALS (DRILLTAG1) and ACTUALS2010(DRILLTAG2) have been specified:
