Set spreadsheet to manual calculation. Default value is FALSE, automatic calculation. If set to TRUE, manual calculation will apply to spreadsheet and a new 'Calculate Now' button displays in the ribbon.

MAN_CALC is an optional parameter that can be used in large complex spreadsheets with many calculations and formulas in the sheet. Sometimes these spreadsheets are slow to work in and registration in one cell takes long time. One reason for this is that the automatic calculation takes place in the spreadsheet every time an action is done. If the automatic calculation is turned off, the speed of the registration in the form might be improved. The MAN_CALC parameter should only be used if no other solution can be found to solve problems with slow registration in a form.

If setting MAN_CALC to TRUE in a template, then no automatic calculation will take place in the spreadsheet when the user enters a value in a cell. This means that formulas (SUM formulas or other formulas relating to the entered cell) will not be re-calculated when the value is entered. If the parameter is set to TRUE, a new button, 'Calculate Now', will instead appear in the ribbon. 'Calculate Now' should be used if the user wants to re-calculate formulas in the spreadsheet.

Note: The parameter MAN_CALC cannot be defined in the properties panel to the right in template design. To add this parameter, go to the actual PARAM worksheet and manually add parameter MAN_CALC in column A and TRUE in column C.

MAN_CALC

Even though manual calculation is set in the template, there are some actions that will trigger an automatic calculation in the sheet:

  • Autosave
  • Update to database
  • Save to archive
  • Export
