Template Groups

A Template Group is a definition of a set of templates (Report or Form) that can all be started from one Selection Pane. For example, the user makes the selection once and all templates in the template group are generated. This can be very useful when users need to run several reports at the same time.

Access Template Groups by selecting System Administration > Templates > Template Groups.

To create a new Template Group, click the Create a new template group link or the New button at the bottom.

Below is a list of Template Group fields:

Field

Description

Example

Note

Template Group ID*

The unique ID for the Template Group.

RRGROUP

Keep short, no spaces, no strange characters, numbers or capital letters.

Description*

The name that will be visible in dialogs and as logged on user.

Result Report Group

Category

Which template category should the template group belong to.

Select among existing template categories.

Selection pane

Select Selection Pane for the entire group.

The Selection pane control tags needs to be suited for all templates in the Template Group.

SUBTEMPLATES

Add template(s) that should be included in the template Group.

Sheet Prefix / Suffix

Add Prefix and Suffix for sheets created from each of the included templates.

RR1 /

This feature is available to avoid confusion between the sheets created from more than one template.

Note: The length of the Prefix / Suffix is limited to eight characters.

Additional Information

The templates included in the groups needs to have the same, or similar, selection pane so that the control tags needed for each and every template is supplied.

It is highly recommended to create a separate Category that explains that the entry is in fact a group. In the end-user interface, a template group will appear as one selection just like any other template, therefore, we recommend a separate category for this.
