Value Types

- [Planning versions] define relationships between objects
Value types defines the measures used in input forms and reports. Examples of value types can for example be amount, units and meters. The value type ID is normally used in [template designer] when designing input forms on the 'VALT' row.
Access value types by selecting Client administration > Other Items > Value Types.
Select New to create a new value type, enter appropriate information and select Save.
Below is a list of value type fields and descriptions:
Field | Description | Example | Note |
---|---|---|---|
Value type ID | The unique identifier of the value type. | AMOUNT | Keep short but descriptive, no spaces. |
Description | The description of the value type. | Amount | |
Valid from to | Indicates to the system when the value type is valid. | ||
Active | Defines to the system is this is an active value type. |
Note: Something that might look like two different measure types might not be more than one value type. For example, you might think that 'budget amount' and 'forecast amount' would be two different measures or value types, but 'budget' and 'forecast' are two different [Planning Versions] separating the data. In this scenario, only one value type is needed called 'amount'.
