Upgrading an Existing Bizview Datastore

This topic describes the process for upgrading an existing Bizview datastore.

The Bizview database bound datastores are shown in the dialogue below. Here, you have the option to upgrade each specific datastore according to your needs. Assuming you've opened the web.config file either manually or automatically follow these steps:

dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds

DBWizard automatically lists bound datastores. In this case, there is a bound Bizview database called "bizview_demo_7_1", and one bound datastore called "bizview_demo_7_1_ds".

  1. Select the Bizview Datastore tab:
  2. Select Upgrade next to the Datastore you wish to upgrade.

The next dialogue requires you to enter your SQL information:

    dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds.credencials

  3. Choose the network database server you want to upgrade to. Alternatively, type the Hostname or the server IP-address.
  4. Choose between Windows NT Authentication or SQL Server Authentication (depending on how the database server is configured).
  5. Enter the username to login with.
  6. Enter the password for the username.
  7. Click Next. The datastore upgrade continues.
  8. In the next dialogue, select which datastore to upgrade (the datastore selected from previous dialogue is pre-selected) and what snapshot version to use (what version should the datastore be upgraded to).
  9. Read the information displayed and click Yes, I'm aware of the above:

    dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds.snapshot

  10. Note: If you click Update data instead of Next, the database will then be updated with base data, using the preloaded data script. This option is only for circumstances when you wish to reload the application base data alone. The database must be up-to-date already! This step will also appear after Upgrade DB which is the natural process.

  11. Verify that the selected settings are correct and click Start to continue the Bizview datastore upgrade:

    dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds.summary

  12. Then, select Yes :

    Upgrade_datastore_proceed

The next dialogue displays summary information about the options submitted.

  13. To continue, select Next:

    dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds.finished

The Bizview datastore is dependent on initially preloaded data. The next dialog asks you to update the application datastore base-data.

  14. Click Finish instead of Run if you don't want to run the script. You can run the script in Management Studio by opening the path C:\Program Files\NCG Group\Bizview\DBWizard\PreloadData\

    dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds.preloaded

To install / upgrade this data, follow the steps below:

  1. Select the Data script to run (named bizview_<version>_data.sql).
  2. Select Run to load preloaded data into the datastore.
  3. The next dialogue gives you a summary of updated rows.

  4. Select Close:
  5. dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds.preloaded.result

  6. Select Next:

    dbwizard.8.8.upgrade_ds.finished

  7. Finally, select Finish.

Congratulations, you have now successfully upgraded a Bizview datastore!

Important: After the installation is completed, Bizview Systems has no responsibility of the Bizview databases. The customer is legally responsible for continuous back-ups and maintenance of the Bizview databases.
