Data Sources

A Bizview Data Source is a definition of a connection to a data source other than the Bizview database(s). For instance, you might want to set up a connection to a CRM database.

A Data Source definition can be created for any type of data, as long as the data provider information has been setup correctly.

Access Data Sources by selecting System Administration > Data Services > Setup > Data Sources.

The Data Sources already defined are shown in the list.

To create a new Data Source, click the Add a New Data Source link at the top of the page.

Below is a list of available fields:

Field

Description

Example

Note

Data Source ID

The unique ID for the Data Source.

CRM.

Description

The description of the Data Source.

Customer Relationship Management System.

Provider

Select Data Provider to be used for the Data Source.

SQLOLEDB.

Additional Information

Depending on the Data Provider selected for the Data Source, a number of parameters may be required. Please see the definition of the Data Provider to better understand these parameters.

Once all necessary parameters have been entered, you can test the Data Source by clicking the Test Connection button. Bizview then uses the supplied information for testing the connection.

A 'Test failed!' message displays if connection was unsuccessful.

A 'Test completed!' message displays if the connection was successful.

Usage

Once the Data Source is defined in Bizview, it can then be used in a template, specified in template parameter SOURCE. When applied to parameter SOURCE, you can then select a table and column from an object in the Data Source.
