Roles

A Role is used to group Bizview users into logical roles to which you can assign Template, Dashboard, Job, and Panel access. This is different from the Organizational feature, where you assign access to end-user features, such as Dashboards and Templates.

Access Roles by selecting System Administration > Setup & Authorizations > Users & Roles > Roles.

There are three default roles defined in Bizview, all separating the access levels to the Bizview panel tree:

  1. BV10 - Bizview End User, has access to My Home Panel.

  2. BV20 - Bizview Client Administrator, has access to the Client Setup panel and functions.

  3. BV30 - Bizview System Administrator, has access to the System Administration panel and functions.

To define a new Role, select the New button, or the Create a new role link at the top of the screen.

Below is a list of Role fields:

Field

Description

Example

Note

Role ID

The unique ID for the Role.

CONTROL

Keep short, no spaces, no strange characters, numbers, or capital letters.

Description

The description of the Role.

Cost Center Controllers

Additional Information

  • Members: Select which users should be a member of the Role.

  • Templates: Select which Templates the Role should have access to.

  • Dashboards: Select which Dashboards the Role should have access to.

  • Jobs: Select which Jobs the Role should have access to.

  • Panels: (not yet implemented) If there is additional panels created in the solution, you can give access to them to a Role.

Usage

The recommendation is to use the concept of Roles. It vastly simplifies the administration of access to templates within the solution.

Note: You can only set access to the Template / Dashboard / Job itself here. The more sensitive administration of which Client and Object values users have access to is configured in the User or Organization administration.
