Single Sign-On (SSO): Windows Authentication

The Windows authentication button is no longer visible by default. From Bizview version 8.3 on, you must add Windows Authentication (and all other authentication providers you want to use) in the table `app.auth_providers`.

If you want Windows Authentication, or some other authentication method (for example, Azure), as a default, set the client_id to NULL. Then, it is visible for all clients.

Login_SSO_Windows_auth

If you want a specific authentication method for a certain client, set the client_id to the actual client ID, and the authentication method displays for that client only.

This topic contains the following sections:

Windows Authentication Login Button

Once you add Windows Authentication (or some other authentication method, like Azure) in the `app.auth_providers` table, an arrow displays next to the Login button.

Select Windows Authentication by selecting that option in the Login drop-down list:

Login_Windows_Auth

Then, enter the Window's Username and password:

windows_auth_box

Force Window Authentication for all Users

Instead of having users select Windows Authentication when they login, you can also force all users to use Windows Authentication. This is done by using another URL to the Bizview application.

After your Bizview URL, add  /login?forceAuth=windows

Example: localhost/bizview/en/login?forceAuth=windows

Important: To use SSO for Windows Authentication, Bizview users need to be setup with the correct domain name in the User GUI and the application needs to be connected to Active Directory (AD) (defined in System Administration). For additional information on Browser-specific features and settings that need to be defined for SSO Windows Authentication, see the respective Edge and Firefox topics.
