Bizview v23.2 Enhancements

This topic describes the significant enhancements in Bizview v23.2.

Drag and Drop

Drag and drop is a new way for Template Designers to build and manage report templates. This enhancement enables you to pull dataview fields into column and row drop boxes, which subsequently update the spreadsheet.

Important: This beta version is only available to customers who wish to test the feature and provide feedback for improving it.

To utilize this feature, access Template Design and select Data from the right panel:

Then, select the Data Bindings drop-down and choose the Data View for the report:

Upon selecting the Data View, a list of available measures and dimensions associated with the selected Data View display in the Data View Fields section.

Drag the Data View Fields to the column drop box, as demonstrated below:

When a Data View variable is dragged into the Column drop box, the corresponding column control variables are always added in the next empty design column in the sheet from left to right on the worksheet. Given that the top-to-bottom list of Data View variables in the Column drop box correspond to the design column position in the worksheet from left to right, moving a Data View Field up one or more positions in the list moves the corresponding design column in the worksheet to the left by one or more positions. On the other hand, moving a variable down one or more positions in the drop box results in the corresponding design column in the worksheet shifting to the right by one or more positions.

The same drag and drop functionality applies to rows. Drag the Data View Fields to the Rows drop box to display the fields in the row input area, as demonstrated below:

When a Data View variable is dragged into the Row drop box, the corresponding row control variables are always added in the next empty design row in the sheet from top to bottom on the worksheet. As such, moving a Data View Field down one position in the Row drop box also moves the corresponding row control variable down one row in the worksheet.

By default, rows are FIXED. You can modify a row directly in the sheet to, for example, change the row to EXPAND. Manual changes to the sheet prompts a notification to display in the Data Bindings area, letting you know the data binding has changed. Select the notification to refresh the sheet, as demonstrated below:

Hovering over the Data View Field exposes a tooltip notifying you that you can double-click on the Data View Field to view the column in the sheet, as demonstrated below:

Select the pencil icon to access settings:

Settings display in a pop-out menu to the left of the Data Bindings. Make any necessary changes and select Apply:

Select the x next to the Data View Field to delete that field from the drop box, as well as the column in the sheet.

For more information, see Templates.

Bizview Shortcuts

This release introduces new keyboard and mouse shortcuts that mimic Excel functionality, providing a more seamless in-app experience. Bizview shortcuts include but are not limited to inserting copied cells, rows, and columns, toggling and highlighting references, extending selection of tabs, and switching between tabs. To make things simple, all shortcuts are referenced in our new built-in Keyboard Shortcuts dialog.

Search and Replace

The newest Bizview shortcut enables you to use Find and Replace to access a value within a worksheet.

To activate the search, press Control+F on your keyboard. The Search dialog displays, as shown below:

Once you enter your search terms, select Find Next to cycle through the occurrences in the sheet. Or, select Find All to view a list of search results, like below:

Selecting a row within the search results highlights that occurrence in the sheet.

To access the Replace dialog from your worksheet, press Ctrl+H on your keyboard.

Once in the dialog, you can easily toggle between the two features by selecting the corresponding tab. You also have the ability to move the Search and Replace dialog to view and edit your worksheet.

For more information, see Search and Replace.

Auto Fill Multiple Selected Cells

This release, Bizview introduces the ability to duplicate a cell (or multiple cells) by dragging it from one cell to another cell(s).

Hovering over a cell exposes a cursor at the bottom-right corner of the cell. You can then use this cursor to drag the cell horizontally or vertically to repeat the pattern. When you let go of the cursor, it will copy the cell's content into the selected cells, as shown in the demo below:

The number of target cells does not need to match the number of selected cells. As shown above, there are three cells selected, but dragging the cells down seven rows automatically adjusts the repeated pattern.

Auto Fill Multiple Selected Cells (Numbers)

Using the Auto Fill feature to repeat cells that include numbers behaves differently than cells that contain letters and characters.

Dragging the selected cells down vertically increases the count numerically one-by-one (like below), or incrementally.

The same behavior applies when dragging selected cells horizontally, as demonstrated below:

If the numbers in the selected cells increase incrementally, Bizview automatically calculates the difference and auto fills the target cells according to the multiplier. In the example below, the selected cells increase in increments of two; therefore, the target cells will automatically repeat this pattern:

This feature also pertains to dates, as well as days. Currently, Bizview does not support auto-filling in monthly increments.

Extend Selection of Cells

Using Bizview shortcuts, you can now extend a selection of cells from the beginning of the worksheet to the last selected cell. This enhancement enables you to make a selection of cells ahead of performing actions.

The new shortcuts are as follows:

  • To extend your selection of cells to the beginning of the worksheet, press Ctrl+Shift+Home on your keyboard.

  • To extend your selection of cells to the last selected cell, press Ctrl+Shift+End on your keyboard.

See below for examples of extending a selection of cells to the beginning of the worksheet and to the end, respectively:

Sort Ascending and Descending

The following sorting and filtering functions are now available via shortcut:

  • Sorting smallest to largest - Ascending

  • Sorting largest to smallest - Descending

  • Sorting A-Z - Ascending

  • Sorting Z-A - Descending

To utilize these features, select a cell and press Ctrl+Shift+L on your keyboard. Upon activating the shortcut, arrows display, as shown below:

Select an arrow to expose sorting options:

Choose between Sort Ascending or Sort Descending. Bizview reconfigures the content according to the sort order.

User-Interface Updates

This release includes several updates to the user-interface that improve the look and feel of the application.

Home Dashboard Icons

The My Favorites section is now divided into sections that identify each type of item, as shown below:

Sections include Analytics, Reports, Input, and Jobs.

Items in the My Workflow Tasks section on your homepage Dashboard are now accompanied by icons and status indicators to help distinguish between tasks at a glance. The color tag next to each item depicts the status of the workflow item. In the example below, the Cost Budget (2020-11-30) task is easily identified as a report that is in the "In Progress" status, indicated by the report icon and yellow status bar:

Validate License

The "Validate" button is automatically disabled on the manual license input and license key when there is no data in the input fields.
