Bizview v23.1 Enhancements
This topic describes the significant enhancements in Bizview v23.1.
Bizview Shortcuts
This release introduces new keyboard and mouse shortcuts that mimic Excel functionality, providing a more seamless in-app experience. Bizview shortcuts include but are not limited to inserting copied cells, rows, and columns, toggling and highlighting references, extending selection of tabs, and switching between tabs. To make things simple, all shortcuts are referenced in our new built-in Keyboard Shortcuts dialog.
Insert Cells
The newest Bizview shortcut enables you to copy a cell and insert it anywhere within a sheet.
Begin by selecting a cell or multiple cells.
Then, right-click and select Copy:
Next, choose a target cell to insert the copied cells, right-click, and select Insert Copied Cells..:
A pop-up dialog displays, asking where you would like to shift the cells. Make your selection and click OK.
Bizview pastes the copied cells in the designated location, as shown below:
Insert Rows
You can now insert a copied row anywhere you want within a sheet.
To utilize this feature, right-click on a row and select Copy:
Then, right-click on the target row and select Insert Copied Cells.
A pop-up dialog displays, asking where you would like to shift the cells. Make your selection and click OK.

You may repeat these steps as many times as necessary, or, copy numerous rows at a time.
Insert Columns
This shortcut allows you to insert a copied column anywhere within a sheet.
First, select the column you want to copy.
Right-click and select Copy:
Then, choose a target column to insert the copied cells, right-click, and select Insert Copied Cells:

Auto Fill Formula
This release, Bizview introduces the ability to duplicate a cell or formula by dragging it from one cell to another cell(s).
Hovering over a cell exposes an autofill cursor at the bottom-right corner of the cell:
You can then use this cursor to drag the cell in all four directions. When you let go of the cursor, it will copy the formula into the selected cells, as shown in the demo below:
The formula updates in the copied cells, as well:
Toggle Absolute and Relative References
This enhancement enables you to toggle between absolute and relative references so that you can choose a reference type to copy to other cells.
To utilize this feature, hover your cursor over a cell address and press the F4 key. As a result, the cell reference cycles through the absolute and relative references.
The video below demonstrates this capability:
Highlight References
You now have the ability to highlight references used in a formula so that you can identify which cells are providing the data for said formula.
Double-clicking the cell highlights the contained references within the sheet, as shown below:
Extend Selection of Cells
Using Bizview shortcuts, you can now extend a selection of cells to the last cell in a group, or last nonblank cell in the same column or row as the active cell. This enhancement enables you to make a selection of cells ahead of performing actions.
The new shortcuts are as follows:
To extend your selection to the left, press Ctrl+Shift+Left on your keyboard.
To extend your selection to the right, press Ctrl+Shift+Right on your keyboard.
To extend your selection upward, press Ctrl+Shift+Up on your keyboard.

The new shortcuts are as follows:
To go to the next tab, press Ctrl+Alt+Page Down on your keyboard.
To return to the previous tab, press Ctrl+Alt+Page Up on your keyboard.
The video below demonstrates the use of this shortcut to navigate between Template sheets:
Keyboard Shortcuts Dialogue
The Template Design toolbar now includes a Help tab that provides a Keyboard Shortcuts dialogue. The Keyboard Shortcuts dialogue lists all the shortcuts that exist within the application, as well as an option to override browser shortcuts so that you can use Bizview shortcuts when they are the same as the browser shortcuts.
To access the Keyboard Shortcuts, select the Help tab from the toolbar:
Then, select Keyboard Shortcuts:
Bizview displays a pop-up window that lists all shortcuts that exist within the application, as shown below:
From here, you can search for specific shortcuts by entering them in the search bar.
Or, select the drop-down to filter shortcuts by category:
Select the Override browser shortcuts check box to override browser shortcuts so that you can use Bizview shortcuts when they are the same as browser shortcuts.
For more information, see Keyboard Shortcuts Dialog.
Workflow Notifications
Bizview v23.1 includes several enhancements to the workflow feature that improve transparency and oversight. Currently, when using the workflow feature in Bizview, there is no easy way to establish what changes have occurred since the last view. Now, Bizview offers process-, step-, and page-level notifications to help identify which steps have changed status, when a comment has been added to a step, when an attachment has been added, and when instructions have been added or amended.
Workflow Notification
The new workflow notification alerts you when there are changes within a workflow that you are assigned to, allowing you to focus on the specific workflow that requires action. Workflow notifications display via a bell icon in the secondary navigation menu. The number that accompanies the bell icon represents the number of changes made to the step, including child steps, since you last viewed.
To access your workflow notifications, select the Workflow tab from the left-hand navigation menu:
Notifications display as shown below:
For more information, see Workflow.
Step Notification
Step notifications indicate changes made to a step that was assigned to you. Accessing the workflow reveals a counter badge in the step area that reflects the number of changes that have occurred since you last viewed the step, as shown below:
Selecting the notification displays the updated information. Once the step is selected, the counter badge disappears, and the Workflow notification counter total adjusts to reflect the remaining notifications that have not been viewed.
Page-Level Notification: Status
A Status Page-Level Notification alerts you when the status has been updated on a step. This enhancement provides clarity on the previous and current status of a particular step in the workflow.
Selecting the notification displays the updated step status. The Actions heading displays an "Updated" label and the Last Update field details the progression of the step from one status to another, as shown below:
Selecting the Updated label displays the status log:
For more information, see Actions - Workflow.
Page-Level Notification: Comments
You also receive Page-Level Notifications when a Comment has been added to a Workflow step.
Once you select the Workflow item from your Workflow tree, the Comments section displays a "+ x new" label next to the header, with the "x" representing the number of additional comments added, as shown below:
If there are numerous comments in this section, select the "+ new" link to callout the comment that was added.
Additionally, new comments are denoted by a blue dot, along with the date and time the comment was added.
For more information, see Comments - Workflow.
Page-Level Notification: Attachments
An Attachment Page-Level notification alerts you when an attachment has been added to an item in your Workflow. Instead of searching through your Workflow tree to navigate to a step that includes a new file, this enhancement allows you to quickly access the step and view the new attachment.
Once you select the Workflow item from your Workflow tree, the Attachments section displays a new label that details how many attachments have been added and deleted, like below:
The new attachment is also accompanied by a blue dot next to the date and time for each attachment.
If there are numerous attachments in this step, selecting the "x added" label highlights the attachment(s) in the list. Or, select the "x deleted" label to open the Log.
For more information, see Attachments - Workflow.
Realtime Updates
Bizview now notifies you as soon as a new update is made to a step by another user. Realtime updates enable you to view the latest changes within a step without refreshing the page. Updates that trigger realtime alerts include status changes and additional comments.
For status updates, the action label displays the "Updated" label next to the Action heading, as shown below:
The "Last Update" label also reflects the progression of the step from one status to another (previous status > current status).
In addition to these changes, the Step badge counter and Workflow counter also increase as the status changes, providing additional oversight.
Realtime updates for new comments display with a "+ x New" next to the Comments header, with the "x" representing the number of additional comments added, accompanied by a blue dot next to the date and time for each new comment.
Again, the Step badge counter and Workflow count increase as comments are added.
Filtering
The Workflow notification enhancement also includes a filtering capability to easily access Workflow steps that have recently been updated.
To access this feature, select the filter icon to the right of the Search bar:
Then, select the Only steps with notifications check box:
Your Workflow tree automatically refreshes to display the items with notifications that require your attention, as shown below:
The blue dot next to the filter icon indicates that there is a filter applied to the Workflow. To undo filtering, select the filter icon and de-select the check box.
Notification Clearance
Bizview makes it easy to keep track of Workflow notifications you already acknowledged by automatically removing notifications. Once the step is selected, the counter badge disappears, and the Workflow notification counter total adjusts to reflect the remaining notifications that have not been viewed.
In the example below, notice the step no longer displays a notification and the Workflow notification counter decreased from "68" to "63":
To clear all Workflow notifications, hover over the base workflow and select Mark as read:
Innovation Portal
The User Menu now offers an Innovation Portal where you can suggest updates to improve the Bizview application.
To access this feature, select your Usermenu from the bottom-left corner of Bizview.
Then, select the Innovation Portal:
A new tab opens in your browser to insightsoftware Customer Community. From here, you can access the Innovations Portal, as well as other Community features.
